Job Description

Overview

The music licensing manager will be responsible for clearing music rights for video game use. He/She will work closely with production, legal, marketing, business teams.

The ideal candidate will have strong creative music supervision skills and a comprehensive knowledge of music, its history, genres, and styles, and must be up to date with current music.

Responsibilities

· License rights for musical compositions and sound recordings from rights holders (both domestic and foreign) including synchronization and performance rights

· Collaborate with licensing team and production teams in the preparation of music budgets

· Work with music team and legal team to develop strategies, evaluate rights and implement procedures to work within production budgets

· Develop and maintain the relationship with music labels in China, negotiate and facilitate the music deals for production and marketing use

· Be a source of deep insights about the music licensing ecosystem, execute in an intense, fast-paced, and highly iterative environment

Qualifications

Qualifications

· 5+ years of music licensing and clearance experience for various types of digital content including gaming, virtual reality, karaoke, advertising, and film/television

· Knowledge of music licensing models

Preferred qualifications

· Have a comprehensive knowledge of the music business and current key issues in the industry

· Proven track record of excellence in negotiating and executing music licensing for global organizations

· Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and cross-functionally to establish effective internal relationships and to represent Ubisoft with external stakeholders

· Proven track record with high standards of professionalism

· Creative, resourceful, detail-oriented, highly organized

· Clear and concise communication skills

· Ability to meet multiple objectives in an entrepreneurial environment with little supervision

· Have excellent communication and people skills. Have good diplomacy and negotiation skills

· Be able to problem-solving and be highly organized

· Be able to remain calm in stressful situations and be able to work to deadlines

· Ability to accurately analyze contracts and license agreements.

· Ability to draw conclusions from working knowledge of issues which impact the area of rights licensing including copyright & trademark law and union/guild issues.
