Multiplayer Game Engineer (Entry Level)

About the Company
Founded in 2007, IllFonic is an independent video game developer and publisher with studios in Lakewood, Colorado, Tacoma, Washington, and Austin, Texas. Our staff is composed of video game, music, and technology veterans redefining how indie and middle-market games are made and marketed. Past titles and collaborations include Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, Arcadegeddon, Predator: Hunting Grounds, Friday the 13th: The Game, Dead Alliance, Star Citizen, Evolve, Armored Warfare, and Nexuiz.
Responsibilities
- Develop fast, reliable and most importantly, fun multiplayer features in collaboration with gameplay and design teams
- Understand existing functions, suggest and develop improvements with the goal of bringing the best multiplayer experience to our players
- Collaborate daily with a variety of production and support teams
- Support peer-to-peer and dedicated server game connectivity across a wide range of console platforms and PC
- Implement online session functionality for new platforms as needed
- Work with cloud services such as AWS to support game infrastructure
- Resolve network bugs
- Document your work
Requirements
- Experience in developing and optimizing network code in C/C++
- Experience with multiplayer engines, distributed systems, network optimization, and multi-threading
- Strict use of code names and complete confidentiality of project information for as long as its required
Bonus
- Experience developing network features on Microsoft, Sony or Nintendo consoles is an asset
- Experience as part of a team that has shipped a multiplayer game is an asset
- Experience with C# is an asset
- Proficiency to communicate with all disciplines and to support and elevate the team in terms of quality and vision of the game
- Experience with Linux
- Experience managing game dedicated servers
- Experience with game matchmaking services
