Gearbox Software is looking for a Motion Capture Technician to join our Motion Capture team! This is a full-time position that can be on-site in our offices in Frisco Texas, remote or a hybrid combination of both. Stage Work will only be available for applicants working on site or hybrid near the Frisco office.

The Mocap Technician will help with all aspects of the Mocap process and pipeline. From assisting during mocap shoots to post processing the data that was shot on set.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Stage Work:

  • Work alongside the Assistant Director during shoots
  • Run video playback of mocap data as well as audio and video reference
  • Look for fallen or swapped markers and help marker up actors
  • Manage and clean mocap supplies (suits, markers, props, computers, cameras, etc.)
  • Work as a camera operator during shoots
  • Assist in facial capture setup
  • Provide support input on R&D work
  • Create simple props to use on set

Post Processing:

  • Track, solve and retarget mocap body files
  • Process facial data from mocap and audio shoots
  • Convert reference videos
  • Deliver data and provide support to the Animation Department

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Be familiar with Shogun Live and Shogun Post (other mocap systems may be considered)
  • Knowledge in Autodesk Maya and Motionbuilder
  • Be proactive and self-driven
  • Be a team player that values working together to accomplish a common goal
  • Constructively communicate with others

BONUS POINTS FOR:

  • Ability to program in Python
  • UE4/UE5 knowledge
  • HSL knowledge
  • Interest in jumping into a mocap suit for testing purposes
  • Experience with Xsens or similar inertial based mocap systems
  • Basic video editing
  • Skills in building props and set pieces
