Mission Designer

Job Description

Responsibilities:

• Be the owner and drive the design and development of new missions
• Understand with and work within the gameplay, narrative, and level design direction
• Gather and generate ideas for engaging missions that interest and excite players
• Gain a full understanding of the gameplay and systems available, and then create missions that highlight and add variety to the player experience
• Use the mission system to deliver narrative to players in a variety of fun, interesting forms
• Utilizing familiarity with the playspace environment, drive players to explore new areas of the playspace and give narrative depth to the environmental narratives within the playspace
• Clearly document overall goal, gameplay, narrative beats, technical needs, and asset requests for all mission content
• Implement missions initially in prototype form and continue development through ship
• Conduct gameplay evaluations with the team, providing feedback and suggestions to help fine-tune and improve the game
• Locate and fix bugs in both your own and your colleagues' work
• Stay current on trends in the industry as it relates to mission design
• Work to improve the tools and mission creation pipeline

Qualifications

• Significant contributions in a mission designer capacity to at least one shipped AAA title
• Experience building and iterating upon levels for first- or third-person 3D games
• Ability to quickly learn content pipeline and toolset and become a subject matter expert
• Experience with level markup, scripting, and/or programming
• Experience conducting playtests autonomously
• Broad knowledge of games, both PvE and PvP
• Strong communication and leadership
• Snowdrop experience a plus
