Midwinter Entertainment is a Behaviour Interactive studio. Founded as an independent game developer in 2016, Midwinter proudly joined Behaviour Interactive in 2022, and we are now working on our next unannounced title. We believe in a culture of playfulness, fearlessness, and respect, and we aspire to create a thriving community that shares our values, both around our games and in our workplace.
Now part of Behaviour, we are expanding our work locations, offering positions in select locations across the U.S., Quebec, and Ontario in Canada. We offer several modes of work (100% from home, Flex, 100% in-office) to all our employees, with offices located in Kirkland, WA, Montreal, and Toronto.
Midwinter is looking for a full-time Narrative Designer to join our talented team. We are a small studio where the impact of your work will be felt in the games that we make.
You will work with the Creative Director to develop and evangelize the game’s universe throughout the experience, functioning as the team’s central resource for all things narrative-related. You will be working with a highly experienced team with a lot of passion and energy, and your work will directly contribute to the success of our yet-to-be-announced project.
In this role you will :
- Work with the Creative Director and an interdisciplinary writers’ room to establish and expand the lore and tone of the game;
- Work with interdisciplinary teams throughout development to find creative ways for the narrative to bleed through;
- Work with colleagues to define characters, backstories, and personalities;
- Write, revise, and implement in-game dialog and text;
- Participate in and field feedback from frequent team playtests;
- Work with our world-class audio team to prepare scripts, record voice over, implement narrative beats, and breathe life into the game world;
- Create documents & materials to support casting, marketing, and community efforts.
What we're looking for :
- 3+ Years of industry experience;
- Experience crafting story in session-based games or games with strong procedural elements;
- Experience with Unreal Editor and third person action games;
- Degree in English, Creative Writing, Theatre, Film, or Game Writing;
- Enthusiasm to work cross-discipline to bring an experience to life;
- An appreciation for weird, dark, worlds of cosmic horror;
- Bonus: One or more shipped titles.
Dans ce rôle vous devrez :
- Travailler avec le.la Directeur.trice Créatif.ve ainsi qu’un panel de rédacteurs interdisciplinaires afin d’établir et développer le lore ainsi que le ton du jeu;
- Travailler avec des équipes interdisciplinaires tout au long du développement afin de trouver des façons créative d’intégrer le narratif;
- Travailler avec des collègues afin de définir des personnages, leurs passés et leurs personnalités;
- Rédiger, réviser et mettre en oeuvre les dialogues et textes à l'intérieur du jeu;
- Filtrer et participer aux observations des tests de jeu fréquents de l’équipe;
- Travailler avec notre équipe audio de calibre international afin de préparer des scripts, enregistrer des voix off, mettre en oeuvre les rythmes narratifs et insuffler de la vie au monde du jeu;
- Créer des documents et du matériel afin de soutenir les efforts de casting, de marketing et de communauté.
Ce que nous recherchons :
- 3 ans et plus d’expérience dans l’industrie;
- Expérience en création d’histoire pour des jeux basés sur la session ou des jeux avec de forts éléments procéduraux;
- Expérience avec Unreal Editor et les jeux d’action à la troisième personne;
- Diplôme en Anglais, Rédaction Créative ou en écriture de théâtre, cinéma ou jeux;
- Enthousiasme à travailler de façon multidisciplinaire afin de donner vie à une expérience;
- Une appréciation pour les mondes étranges et sombres d’horreur cosmique;
- Bonus: Un titre lancé ou plus.

Vous travaillerez avec une équipe hautement expérimentée avec beaucoup de passion et d’énergie; votre travail contribuera directement au succès de notre prochain titre à annoncer.
