Mid to Principal level - Machine Learning Engineer

Creative Assembly is looking for an experienced Machine Learning Engineer (ML) to join our R&D Team based at our studio in Horsham, in the heart of West Sussex.
As an ML Engineer at CA, you will help building and maintaining R&D systems, workflows, and solutions, focusing on increasing the quality of CA’s games and game development processes.
You will be working on developing ML-based technologies, integrate them into our games or production workflows as well as creating and improving infrastructure and prototyping tools.
Flexible working at Creative Assembly includes hybrid, fully remote within country of employment for eligible roles, and in-studio. We recognise that there is no one-size-fits-all approach and empower our teams to define the working patterns which work best for them, which may mean different things for different teams and roles and at different times.
This role can be offered as hybrid / in-studio / fully remote depending on candidate requirements. Further details can be discussed during the recruitment process.
Key Responsibilities
On a day-to-day basis, you will:
- Contribute to the development of our R&D roadmap, implementing new prototypes and turning them into production ready products
- Design, develop, and deploy ML solutions to our games as well as maintain them in collaboration with the game teams
- Assess 3rd party solutions and help determine their value for our use
- Help to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our workflows and infrastructure to bring the CA’s game development to a next level
- Help to improve the R&D culture at CA through staying current with new research and contributing to training materials and mentoring more junior members and graduate students.

Essential
- Work experience in professional software development (machine learning focus and video game programming experience is a big plus)
- Excellent coding skills in C++ and Python
- Experience with improvement and productionisation of ML components
- Experience with modern machine learning frameworks (e.g. PyTorch, Tensorflow, Keras)
- Familiarity with one or more machine learning methods and algorithms such as regression, classification, deep learning, RL, generative methods
- Ability to focus on work independently but also comfortable working in a collaborative environment
- Being able to work well across teams and other disciplines
- Good communication skills
- Creative problem-solving abilities.
Desirable
- Games industry development experience
- An appreciation of games, and Creative Assembly titles, is also an advantage.
