Mid/Senior Software Engineer (Python, Backend)

Job Overview
Wargaming Sydney is seeking a Mid/Senior Software Engineer to join our studio. We are looking for someone with experience and passion, who is willing and able to dive into all aspects of game technology and development.
In this role you will help design, create and test a suite of microservices used to support the backend of multiple different games, including the new titles being developed in Sydney. The microservices are running on Kubernetes and are written in Python, C++ & Go.
What will you do?
- Build, test, maintain and document microservices using Python, C++ and Go
- Integrate the use of these services in Unreal Engine
- Discuss and understand the needs of customers and design appropriate solutions
- Maintain and improve our CI/CD system
- Help the team and product grow by giving feedback and raising issues.
What are we looking for?
- Proficiency with programming using Python
- An understanding and the skills to apply software development best practices
- Code and system design skills, and the ability to identify and solve problems
- Experience with source control systems (eg: perforce / git / subversion), and an understanding of their benefits and limitations.
- Experience using and/or setting up CI/CD (e.g. GitLab CI, Jenkins) pipelines and an understanding of the benefits that they can bring to the development process
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- The ability to thrive in an Agile Development environment
What additional skills will help you stand out?
- Working knowledge of containers and orchestration system like Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience with C++ or Go
- Experience designing REST APIs
- Experience developing network applications and micro-services and supporting them in production
- Experience in the game development industry, and related technology (e.g. Unreal, Unity)
- Experience with cloud infrastructure (e.g. AWS, Google Cloud)
