Job Description
The mechanical engineering technician will assist with the assembly, integration, and testing of custom precision manufacturing equipment. With guidance from the mechanical engineers, this person will assemble electro-mechanical sub-assemblies, document assembly processes, and assist in trouble shooting the equipment.
Responsibilities
- Build precision mechanisms with assembly drawings, bills of material, and instructions from engineers.
- Route cables and pneumatic lines within the equipment.
- Works with engineers to determine corrective action for design and manufacturing issues.
- Collects changes on mechanical part drawings.
- Performs inventory check of parts kits from receiving.
- Documents assembly instructions.
- Builds test sets and mockups with little documentation.
- Assists in moving and crating equipment for shipping.
- Maintain an organized and safe working environment.
Qualifications
- Education: Associates Degree or equivalent in relevant field, preferred.
- Experience: 5+ years related work experience building capital equipment.
- Required Skills:
- May be required to work with systems with little or no formally released documentation.
- Requires strong skills in change management, problem solving, communication, customer orientation, personal effectiveness, team skills, and quality
- Some experience with hand tools and manual machine-shop equipment.
- Familiar with capturing changes to engineering drawings
- experience with CAD (solid works or CREO)
- experience with cleanroom equipment
- experience integrating electromechanical systems (motion controller’s, sensors, etc)
