Marketing Specialist, Worldwide External Development

Job Purpose: We are looking for individual to own and execute the marketing strategy for EA's External Development Summit (XDS) – the only global event aimed to promote external development for the video game industry. You will work with the Head of XDI Events and 3rd parties to implement marketing initiatives that create awareness for XDS (internal and external), and inspires both sponsorship and attendance for the event. You will also provide internal marketing support to the XDI team.
Reports To: Head of XDI Events, External Development Intelligence (XDI)
Location: EA Vancouver, BC, Canada (Hybrid)
Duration: 12-month engagement
You will:
- Develop the annual marketing and communications plan and strategy for the XDS franchise of events
- Oversee all social media platforms, ensuring regular content updates to promote XDS and its constituents
- Manage community partners, allowing for the successful cross-promotion of XDS in other marketing channels
- Development, management and execution of annual project marketing scope and critical path
- Do budget planning, creation, and management to meet fiscal targets
- Analyze marketing strategies to ensure project objectives are achieved
- Manage marketing campaign processes from end to end (conception and execution, to measurement)
- Full brand management of External Development Summit (XDS)
- Work with external partners on complex project deliverables with multiple interdependencies to achieve project goals
- Work with 3rd party development teams to maintain digital platforms, and managing these platforms
- Create content strategy and curation/deployment of content across channels
- Copywriting for website, newsletters, press releases, marketing collateral and general promotional materials
- Work with, and managing external partners to create marketing collateral (signage, swag, promotional flyers, sponsorship promotions, promotional videos, event photography, etc.)
- Manage online community
- Responsible for all press relations and media management
- Manage relationships with cross-promotional partners (local and international)
- Willingness to take on special projects (Eg. charitable partner initiatives, etc.)
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of experience executing marketing strategies
- Minimum 3 years of experience managing marketing initiatives for events
- Minimum Bachelors' degree from an accredited college or University
- Experience with traditional and emerging marketing channels
- Experience using content management tools (Eg. WordPress or other)
- Basic to intermediate experience using creative tools (Eg. Photoshop, InDesign, etc.)
- Flexibility to travel approximately 2-3 times annually
- Creative mind with an ability to generate new ideas and problem solve
- Demonstrated experience building internal partner and 3rd party relationships
Desirable:
- MBA or advanced marketing degree from a reputable university
