POSITION OVERVIEW
Working closely with the VP Central Marketing, the Marketing Director is responsible for delivering the global go-to-market tactical execution in line with the global brand strategies, as defined by the Pillar teams, for all SEGA Europe’s portfolio of titles. This includes collaborating with SEGA Europe commercial teams and distribution partners to ensure business targets are aligned.
Your primary responsibility will be the overall planning and execution of SEGA Europe’s portfolio of titles’ marketing, PR and communication activities throughout the International and Americas regions, including marketing budget implementation and tracking.
Team responsibilities include Product Marketing, PR and Community teams in both EMEA and US. This requires close collaboration and communication with all Pillar teams to ensure full support and alignment with the overall global/regional strategy and direction.
You’ll be able to demonstrate strong leadership and the ability to direct and influence a diverse team of marketing professionals to deliver against business goals and strategy. You’ll also be an excellent communicator with proven ability to develop and build strong working relationships cross-discipline and cross-function. You’ll have proven ability to deliver end-to end-communication campaigns across paid, owned and earned channels utilising all teams and a variety of channels.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Building and Developing Relationships
- Build and maintain excellent working relationships and constant communication channels with all relevant pillar brand teams
- Recruit, develop and retain the best talent to create a culture of effective teamwork & continuous improvement
- Maintain Strong relationships with internal commercial teams (ESD and International Sales), distribution partners, business planning, ops, IT and finance teams
- Develop & maintain strong relationships with key agencies, brands, partners
- Be an ambassador for SEGA Europe’s portfolio of titles internally and externally
People Management
- Directly manage a team covering marketing, PR and community activity across all relevant global markets
- Ensure effective people management within the department with provision for succession planning throughout the teams
- Ensure that all functions within the department work collaboratively both within each team, cross-team and most importantly with the global pillar teams
- Train, appraise, develop, motivate and recruit (where appropriate) a leading marketing, communications and creative services team
Product Marketing
- Work closely with the brand pillar teams to help formulate best in class product positioning and marketing strategies for SEGA Europe’s portfolio of titles
- Provide management for SEGA Europe’s Americas marketing team and direction for SEGA Europe’s distribution partners across internationally & ANZ markets, ensuring that marketing and PR campaigns are executed optimally for the local market but in line with the global pillar strategy
- Ensure optimal delivery of all relevant marcoms materials to enable territories to implement market leading campaigns, evaluating and supporting local initiatives where relevant
- Approve and monitor the execution of all territory marketing plans
- Remain at the forefront of marketing techniques through understanding of all platforms, existing and new
- Develop, or utilise, tools to deliver and evaluate relevant data/analytics to ensure campaigns are tracked and optimised at all times
- Help to inform the business to ensure SEGA Europe has the right presence in developing areas such as eSports etc
PR/Media relations
- Lead global PR efforts, defining media coverage objectives for each title in line with the global PR plan established in collaboration with the Communications teams within each pillar
- Ensure that all PR teams deliver all relevant communications strategies for all titles
- Deliver successful product launches, media interviews, press tours, trade shows and events
- Working closely with other SEGA business units (SEGA of America, SEGA Networks etc.) to ensure alignment across the SEGA brand help to define and drive SEGA Europe’s corporate PR outreach strategy
Community/Influencer strategy
- Develop strategies to maximise SEGA Europe’s presence through social channels through the communication of exciting, relevant, original and engaging content
- Working closely with the pillar community teams build SEGA Europe’s reputation with gamers and deliver engaging content to drive consumer demand for all games throughout their lifecycle
- Provide a framework to drive the growth of SEGA Europe’s communities (especially on, but not limited to, YouTube, Facebook & Twitter)
Business Planning, Finance & Commercial
- Ensure all campaigns are forecast correctly and delivered within budget
- Support VP Central Marketing with the monthly budgeting alignment process (Getsuji)
- Collaborate with commercial, business planning and finance teams to cooperate on the commercial business planning process:- including pre-order tracking, day 1 launch forecasting, SKU planning, promotional & pricing plans, quarterly/monthly/annual forecasting
General
- Champion SEGA Europe’s requirements globally in terms of assets, timings, game content etc.
- Regularly update senior management as part of the Executive Management Team
- Champion the SEGA Europe purpose and brand values both internally and externally
- To remain current and aware of all future opportunities, marketing and communication channels
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a senior marketing position(s)
- Proven track record running successful large marketing and communications teams across multiple territories
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and staff to create a results-driven, team environment
- Pro-active. Commercially focused. Passionate, creative and committed. Open minded and flexible
- Exceptional communicator
- Strong negotiating and influencing skills

- Proven budgetary management and control
- Robust analytical skills
- Strong industry knowledge desirable or other media industry eg movies

- Able to pro-actively recommend new initiatives, processes and opportunities internally to push boundaries, maximise efficiency and remain at the forefront
