Bungie is seeking a technical and people-focused Social Design Lead to join our Marathon team. This role will be responsible for driving the creative and technical implementation of Social Systems features.

As a Systems Design Lead, you will be responsible for designing Marathon’s core Social Systems roadmap that answers product goals and engages players within the extraction community. You will drive design alignment and collaboration across creative disciplines, ensuring a holistic experience for social features in relation to progression, economy, narrative, and core gameplay. You will lead a small team to deliver those systems, unblocking and empowering all members of the team and leading collaboration with partner teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Build a compelling Social Feature roadmap that details a clear relationship with all areas of design
Drive, coordinate, empower, and unblock Systems teams
Ensure the design team's work is achievable by guiding them to appropriately adjust scope based on technical realities
Work closely with the Leadership Team to set guidelines for implementation of the Marathon IP via the extraction shooter genre
Support the work of cross-discipline teams to understand and execute on what is best for the game
Maintain Marathon IP quality, consistency, along with social design principles while implementing Social feature content
Leading the communication and “why” behind social design decisions
Ownership of features and development of design decisions with partner teams

REQUIRED SKILLS

Previous experience as a Social Systems Designer or Systems Designer on a AAA or large-scale game
Experience designing, documenting, and building social systems
Intuitive understanding of what engages players and promotes social interaction in a genre that makes those things challenging
Excitement for collaboration with designers, artists, programmers, audio professionals, quality assurance and producers to achieve a common goal, no matter where they are
Ability to creatively align with the team and then take initiative locally and externally
Social intelligence, great interpersonal skills, and empathy for creative teams
Ability to handle ambiguity, including giving and handling feedback despite that ambiguity

NICE-TO-HAVE SKILLS

Experience designing social features in an extraction genre
Experience hiring, training, and managing other Designers

Listed below is this role's base pay range. In other locations that Bungie has approved for remote work, this pay range may be adjusted up to +/- 10% and some roles may be classified as non-exempt (hourly).

This range is determined by an array of factors, including training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and market demands. Additionally, it is subject to change and may be modified in the future.

Bellevue Pay Range

$159,000 — $189,000 USD

Most Bungie full-time employees will adopt a digital first approach allowing remote work in Bungie approved locations (outside of positions identified as 100% onsite in Bellevue/Seattle, or individuals preferring a hybrid/flex environment).
