Manager, VFX Art - Unpublished R&D Product

As a Real-Time VFX artist, you will work closely with designers and animators to define the kits of high-fidelity characters. With your experience, you’ll create aesthetically astounding visual effects that communicate essential game information in ways that add richness and excitement to the game experience. You’ll use your artistic and technical skills to breathe life into undead spells, channel primal emotions and capture the essence of hundreds of champions.

As a Manager of VFX Art, you’ll be part of an R&D game team and will report to the Art Director. You’ll be responsible for supporting the creation of VFX and building a team for an R&D project. You will work with the R&D Team Captains and facilitate the right level of VFX execution from early prototype through later-stage production. This will include craft, production, and staffing plans.

Responsibilities:

• Partner with Art Leads to design and implement the right level of VFX for early prototype through pre-production to ensure the project is set up for the transition into full production
• Balance visual satisfaction and gameplay clarity that communicate essential game information
• Own the creation of style guides for VFX
• Create aesthetically astounding visual effects that capture the essence of characters
• Research modern techniques and tools to creating VFX
• Find creative and effective solutions to eliminate difficult problems in production and as-needed
• Build and maintain a healthy VFX team

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years of professional experience in the video games industry as a VFX artist
• Advanced skills in 3D/2D Software - Maya, 3DS Max, Photoshop
• Shipped titles or content as a Senior or Lead VFX Artist

Desired Qualifications:

• Past leadership and management experience
• Professional experience working in the Unreal VFX toolset
• Professional experience working in Adobe Animate, AfterEffects, Houdini, FumeFX
