We are looking for a UI/UX team leader to bring their experience and skills to Jam City’s studio that focuses on Disney games! You’ll have the opportunity to work with an incredibly talented development team across multiple projects, using world-class IPs from Disney, Pixar, and Star Wars!
The Manager, UI/UX Design will lead and empower the UI/UX team, driving high quality results, and provide growth and mentorship. We are also looking for a candidate that can direct the UI/UX vision for our next new unannounced game. You will need to balance hands-on design work with educating and leading other designers to elevate the skills and knowledge of the UI/UX department.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Product Leadership
- Define the UI vision for new game/s to support and elevate the art direction and game pillars.
- Be a major contributor in defining the visual identity of the game and the marketing materials.
- Ensure UX decisions are made to best reach product KPI goals.
- Set a framework on how to strategically approach UI/UX solutions.
- Coordinate with Product leads on short and long term planning.
- Make strategic decisions related to core, and new, functions and features.
- Ensure all UI/UX hits high quality standards.
- Synthesize feedback from the team, leadership, live data, and more to make top top level recommendations and iterations.
- Act as a key communication link between all disciplines.
- UI/UX team tactical negotiations and resource planning.
- Attend Production, KPI, and other relevant meetings.
- Constantly research and document competitor games and trends.
- When needed, present to executive leadership and 3rd party stakeholders.
- UI/UX Team Leadership
- Manage a team of UI/UX Designers.
- Have recurring 1:1s with the UI/UX team members to provide leadership, mentorship, and growth opportunities.
- Represent the UI/UX team in studio leads discussions.
- Provide oversight, direction, and feedback on UI/UX team work when needed.
- Ensure the team keeps updated documentation of each design.
- Keep yourself and the team up-to-date on tools.
- Create an environment that encourages creativity and empowerment.
- Contribute to studio-wide design policies, best practices, and new learnings.
- UI/UX Design
- Create high quality, user-friendly UI game assets with a focus on best practices in mobile casual games.
- Ability to prepare and design all facets of UI, including mockups, wireframes, icons, animations, effects, UI style guides, general art, and documentation.
- Ensure UX represents the player’s voice and needs.
- Design prototypes focused on UX and usability best practices.
- Collaborate with the Game Design, Art, and Tech leads to ensure UI/UX consistency, correct functionality, and proper integration.
- Continue to monitor and iterate to keep the game current.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 7+ years of game industry experience.
- 3+ years of of experience managing UI/UX Designers and the UI/UX process
- One or more successful mobile games shipped.
- Expertise creating wireframes, storyboards, user flows, visual designs, and mobile prototypes, as well as clear documentation.
- Proficiency in graphic and prototyping software (Figma, Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator, Protopie, etc).
- Experience developing and integrating assets in Unity.
- Solid understanding of UI/UX best practices and interaction design fundamentals.
- Strong understanding of UI/UX conventions and challenges for mobile platforms.
- Up-to-date with the latest UI trends, techniques, and technology for mobile.
- Experience designing for a range of player types and target audiences.
- Ability to work within a pre-established style
- Ability to produce high-quality work quickly, iterating toward the best solutions.
- Outstanding presentation skills, spec writing, and demonstrated success at communicating your designs and vision across different disciplines.
- Ability to scope work, set project deadlines, and deliver on time.
- Excellent organization and efficient time management skills.
- Proven ability to work with small to large teams in a deadline-driven environment.
- Takes accountability and ownership of projects from start to finish.
- Problem solver, results-oriented, self-motivated and disciplined.
- No-ego personality. Our team has a strong culture of trust, cooperation, and collaboration.
NICE TO HAVE
- Specific experience using Figma (our UI/UX software of choice).
- Affinity for Disney/Pixar IP.
- Experience working with IP characters and following IP guidelines.
- Drive to build and support a creative, world-class design culture.
- Deep and wide knowledge of other games, not just limited to mobile. Ability to reference UI and UX, layouts, and other elements from other games.
- Waterfall, Agile and Scrum process experience.
- Serious passion for games—you are a gamer and have been for years.
- Coding/Prototyping experience.
