Manager, Trade Compliance (North America)
Summary of the Role
The Manager, Trade Compliance Manager will be responsible for ensuring TPCi’ s compliance with all applicable import and export regulations in the North America (NA) region. This role requires exceptional management and cross-collaboration skills to effectively communicate TPCi’s trade compliance requirements across the organization. The candidate must have experience and interacting effectively with external partners and government agencies responsible for trade compliance operations in the NA region which includes US, Canada, Mexico, and oversight on Central and South America. The role requires substantial experience in import/export operations, and the candidate must demonstrate knowledge customs requirements, export and import licensing, economic sanctions, and classification requirements.
What You Will Do
- Operate under the general direction and supervision of the Sr Manager, Global Trade Compliance.
- Act as the NA trade subject matter expert and supervise day-to-day export and import operations in the NA region. This includes acting as the SME for US export filings.
- Manage the relationship with TPCi’s customs brokers in the NA region to ensure timely and accurate customs clearances.
- Review and ensure that TPCi products are classified properly for export (ECCN) and import (HTS) and include correct country of origin determination.
- Supervise the Trade Compliance Specialist.
- Identify potential trade compliance risks and future priorities for the NA region and then recommend and lead the implementation of new policies and measurable process improvements.
- Provide all necessary day-to-day support to internal and external customers on NA export and import shipments.
- Lead NA broker evaluations and business reviews, and conduct broker and supplier document audits for accuracy of information submitted to customs agencies.
- Support trade compliance internal audit processes.
- Provide NA trade compliance training for internal and external partners.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to drive continuous improvement initiatives that increase compliance with global trade regulations.
- Actively participate and contribute to Oracle GTM implementation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What You Will Bring
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, in Logistics, Trade Compliance, Business Administration or another related field.
- 6+ years in import/export operations global trade compliance.
- 1+ years of supervisory experience
- Customs Broker License
- Strong working knowledge of US import and export regulations.
- Knowledge of NA regional import regulations e.g. Canada and Mexico.
- Knowledge of customs valuation methods and COO determinations.
- Excellent, judgement, creativity, flexibility.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and collaboratively.
- Detail oriented and highly organized; ability to multi-task several tasks/projects at once.
- Ability to adapt to rapid change, work with a sense of urgency, and effective time management
- Experienced in Microsoft Office, Oracle GTM, and trade compliance management systems.
