Role Overview
We are looking for a Software Engineering Manager to lead a team of Unity Developers working on the hit mobile game - Design Home. Manage, mentor and optimize a team of engineers while working closely with Production, Product Management, Content and Art teams. Guide your team through feature design, implementation and debugging to enable them to deliver robust code consistently. Collaborate on and promote a thriving company culture that features happy hours, social zoom events and game jams/hack-a-thons.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the design team to architect, build, and iterate on large-scale game features
- Make quick, reasonable estimates for new feature work, as well as propose alternatives to save on implementation time
- Partner with artists to build and implement complex UI layouts in Unity
- Collaborate with web server engineers to design, build, and debug network features
- Identify and drive improvements to the codebase
- Contribute to and uphold established coding practices
- Mentor members of the team on architecture and coding practices
Requirements:
- BS/MS Computer Science or Game Development or equivalent experience with 5 years professional experience, 2+ years recent Unity experience, and 3+ years managing a team
- Extensive experience with Unity’s UGui UI system
- Experience integrating Unity applications with game servers
- Self-motivated, reliable, resourceful, and capable of solving problems with limited support
- Able to ship high quality, bug-free code under a deadline with little to no guidance
- Expertise with OOP, design patterns, algorithms, and data structures
- Strong problem-solving skills, flexibility, and ability to multi-task
Bonuses:
- Experience with building custom shaders
- Expertise with Unity asset bundling and asset pipelines
- Experience with a scripting language like Python or NodeJS
- Hands-on experience with backend development
