Manager, Software Engineering - Content Pipeline

The opportunity

Foundation is part of Core Engineering at Unity. We lay the groundwork for all of Unity's Editor and Runtime technology and provide fundamental building blocks that other teams rely upon and are critical to Unity's users.

Content Pipeline in Foundation is looking for an experienced Engineering Manager who loves solving complex technical challenges and empowers a versatile team to grow and reach their goals. This role requires close collaboration with teams across the Create business unit.

You will consider our users' workflows and problems and be creative. You will not be afraid of taking risks and thrive when dealing with ambiguity in a multidisciplinary team. In your everyday work, you will make critical decisions that cut across multiple teams, iterate on ideas with a wide range of partners, work with various feedback channels and consistently learn. As a successful Software Engineering Manager in Content Pipeline, you will have the ability to impact strategic plans, projects, our product, our users' happiness and our employee satisfaction. As a leader, you are there to serve your team and help cultivate talent, deliver team results, collaborate and work towards alignment across teams.

What you’ll be doing

• Ensure that all perspectives are heard, and create a diverse and inclusive environment to allow the best ideas to win and for the team to innovate, learn, improve and succeed
• Cultivate excellence in the delivery, reliability and craft of the systems your team builds
• Unblock obstacles, collaborate with stakeholders and empower engineers to do their best work
• Manage, hire and grow a team of hardworking and experienced engineers.
• Contribute to company-wide initiatives to help improve systemic problems. Have an active role in the engineering leadership group with other managers, principal engineers and architects.

What we’re looking for

• Experience leading and growing small to medium-sized agile teams working with a large and complex code base towards achieving a business outcome.
• Empathy for the unique challenges game developers face in building and maintaining scalable asset and build pipelines
• Ability to mentor, coach and develop team members, lead by example and build trust and solid relationships
• Proven experience leading a project from initiation to completion
• Strong collaboration, facilitation and communication skills with a desire to work with, listen to and understand people (English is our primary language)

You might also have

• An understanding of the challenges of real-time 3D and the scalability and performance focus it requires
• Experience with large-scale asset management systems for games or other digital asset productions
