Insomniac Games is looking for a Manager, Project Management that will be responsible for anticipating production challenges and proactively driving solutions that enable project teams to realize their ideas without compromising quality or well-being. The primary focus is to be an effective leader, developer of talent, and developer of the department's craft by succeeding through others. Continuously seeks ways to improve the PM team's efficiency through direct mentorship, team training, and skill development.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Supervises reports on project management team.
- Participates in strategy and decision making as a member of the department's leadership group.
- Meets regularly with team members to offer experienced guidance, provide constructive feedback, conduct performance assessments, facilitate best in class work, and ensure adherence to best practices.
- Evaluates team members’ goals and objectives and ensures that department goals are being met.
- Manages the career growth and development of direct reports.
- Facilitates team training via internal and external sources as well as providing mentoring on an individual basis.
- Fosters a safe work environment by ensuring all complaints and concerns related to inappropriate or unprofessional conduct in the workplace are addressed immediately.
- Assists the Director of Project Management with project staffing, hiring, and onboarding.
- Collaborates with Department Head and Directors to develop, refine, and document best practices.
- Regularly plays games in development and reviews content to provide feedback and help identify opportunities for craft development.
- Advocates for direct reports' individual well-being.
- Builds and maintains relationships with peers and other senior leaders to align project and departmental priorities.
- Advocates for studio cultural values and fosters an environment of craft excellence, collaboration, and inclusion.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This position is responsible for direct reports, carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include participation in interviewing, hiring, and training employees alongside Project Directors; appraising and communicating performance to individuals; addressing complaints and resolving problems as well as mentoring members of team.
Education and/or Experience:
- Seven to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Participation as a Project Manager in the completion of one full game cycle preferred but not required.
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Working knowledge of bug tracking database(s), Jira or other industry standard is preferred.
- Working knowledge of version control software, Perforce is preferred.
