SUMMARY OF POSITION
Pixelberry Studios is looking for a Manager, Art Production to manage the art production process on Choices: Stories You Play.
With frequent releases to coordinate across several interactive narrative games, the Manager, Art Production should feel comfortable providing leadership, guidance, and support to internal creative teams in a fast paced environment. The ideal candidate for this role is a highly-organized, detail-oriented individual who is comfortable with production pipelines of the gaming industry, has an art background in gaming or similar, and has outsourcing partnership experience.
This is a full time position based in Mountain View, CA. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the team is currently working remotely until the studio finalizes plans to eventually work on-site.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Establish, create, improve processes to help the art team and art production team run efficiently and smoothly
- Oversee the process of coordinating and managing creative feedback and approvals
- Manage the team’s workload while providing guidance and support
- Mediate conflict amongst teams
- Regularly communicate and coordinate with the production staff and management team
- Work as a point of contact between internal teams and outsourcing partners
- Independently own budgets, external vendor relationships and workload, craft and inform SOWs
- Manage and mentor art producers
REQUIREMENTS
- 5+ years of experience managing creative production teams (i.e. junior and mid-level Producers), specifically in Film, Entertainment, Animation, or console/mobile/PC games
- At least one shipped title credited as producer
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Excellent communication skills; ability to collaborate and resolve conflicts among teams
- A thorough understanding of and demonstrable experience working within a game development process, including identifying bottlenecks and dependencies, evaluating work quality, and anticipating and proactively solving problems
- Experience managing external vendors
- Extensive knowledge of and experience with common scheduling applications (e.g. Google Suite, Jira, Asana, etc)
- Good understanding of traditional art principles and theory
- Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop
- Experience managing and mentoring direct reports
- Strong interpersonal skills with emphasis on building productive relationships with external partners, managers, and peers
POSITIVES
- Experience working as an artist in games, film, or similar
- Good eye for aesthetics, composition, fashion, and graphic design
- Defined and built production pipeline for new projects in the creative department
- Experience with narrative gaming content
- Established network of outsourcing partners
- Familiarity with Adobe Illustrator, 3D software
- Google scripting knowledge
