Manager, Art Direction - Legends of Runeterra

Legends of Runeterra (LoR) is our collectible card game featuring Champions from the League of Legends universe. As part of LoR’s R&D team you will hire and coach a group of cross discipline artists to create a new PVE game experience to immerse and engage millions of players in the world of Runeterra. You will use your artistic eye and craft skills to set the art vision for future versions of our PVE game mode. Working with producers and the art team you will develop and understand the game needs and closely collaborate with our vendors and internal team to make that vision a reality.

You will understand and communicate the needs of your artists to leadership and set up the best environment for your team to handle any challenges they face. By understanding your team’s goals you will help establish clear paths for your artists to achieve their career goals. You will identify strategic art resource needs and promote hiring for all art roles on the team. By being part of the leadership team, you will develop strategies and eliminate obstacles with other leaders across the studio.

Responsibilities:

• Accountable for the overall art quality bar of your art team
• Refine and evolve the team’s pipeline and foster a collaborative and inclusive team dynamic
• Drive the development of Style Guides and Process Guides
• Provide meaningful opportunities for growth and career development of those you manage
• Occasionally create proof-of-concept (concept art, motion piece, quick edit etc.)
• Manage and build great relationships with external art studios and contractors

Required Skills:

• Demonstrated ability to create and drive the creation of high quality artwork
• Extreme proficiency in art fundamentals, design principles and color theory
• Professional experience leading teams and individuals
• Experience giving art direction and delivering timely, clear feedback to other artists
• A strong communicator and able to convey abstract/sophisticated ideas in a concise way

Desired Qualifications:

• Knowledge of the game development pipeline including optimization, localization, implementation
• Familiarity with Unity
• Experience in multiple art disciplines is a plus
