For 30 years we’ve been independently developing and publishing incredible video games at our multiple studios founded by Jason & Chris Kingsley, but Rebellion is more than just games. We have our own film and mo-cap studio, we create board games, publish books, and through 2000AD, publish comics and graphic novels such as the amazing Judge Dredd.
About the Role:
We're seeking a passionate Machine Learning Engineer to join our cutting-edge ML Team. You'll be part of a small, dynamic group that embraces continuous research, development, and innovation, particularly in the realm of AI-driven solutions for our game products.
In this role, you’ll be instrumental in creating AI/ML systems that generate game-levels, enhance our game products, develop custom tools, and integrating machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) models into real-time gaming environments. Our current focus includes Creating 3D Worlds and Game Levels using ML/DL technologies.
You'll support research into state-of-the-art advancements, suggesting building, training, and validating models that drive game development. This position demands hands-on expertise with satellite imagery, point cloud data, and proprietary game datasets. You will conduct data analysis, build ML models, be part of the team, and ensure smooth deployment into production environments.
This role is based at our riverside headquarters in Oxford, offering a creative and relaxed atmosphere where teamwork drives our success. We can provide a relocation package, including moving assistance, temporary accommodation, and full support to ensure a smooth transition to your new environment.
We believe in the power of face-to-face collaboration and encourage working from our Oxford headquarters. However, we understand that flexibility matters, so we’re open to discussing hybrid options based on individual needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Report to the Head of Machine Learning and collaborate with the ML team.
- Design and implement cutting-edge ML algorithms and tools.
- Partner with cross-disciplinary teams (art, design, IT) to integrate ML models into game development workflows.
- Conduct experiments to fine-tune and optimize ML models for performance improvements.
- Train, retrain, and maintain ML systems and libraries for game-level development.
- Attend team and stakeholder meetings, providing updates on progress and insights.
Requirements
- MSc in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a similar technical discipline; advanced certifications are a bonus.
- Proficiency in Python and C++ for writing robust, scalable code.
- Proven experience as a Machine Learning Engineer or similar role, with expertise in machine learning algorithms and statistical methods.
- Hands-on experience with supervised, unsupervised, semi-supervised, and reinforcement learning, with ML/DL or 3D ML/3D DL experience as a plus.
- Strong knowledge of data structures, software architecture, data modeling, and working with diverse datasets (tabular, computer vision, point clouds, game data).
- Proficiency with ML libraries and frameworks such as NumPy, OpenCV, scikit-learn, PyTorch/PyTorch 3D, TensorFlow, and Keras etc.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, version control (GitLab, Perforce), and cloud platforms (preferably AWS).
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills with a passion for learning and innovation.
