The ideal candidate has a keen artistic eye and experience with producing high quality look dev and shading for CG assets. Define all the technical and creative needs and to work closely with the Asset and Lighting team and VFX Supervisor to develop and construct the appearance for CG assets.
Responsibilities:
- Provide surfacing and shading/material solutions for a project.
- Create, revise, maintain and support shaders and digital assets.
- Develop new shading technology in conjunction with current lighting package and renderer
- Debug rendering setups and provide shading support for other departments
- Collaborate on best practices and work to remediate workflow inefficiencies
- Work closely with show leads, top-notch artists, as well as core developers to ensure a consistent style and quality across all shaders.
Requirements
- Strong Look Dev skills with an excellent understanding of wide range of style, both artistically and technically.
- 3+ years experience working as a Look Dev TD.
- Physically based shading/rendering in a raytracer
- Katana/Houdini/Gaffer production lighting experience.
- Solid understanding of all aspects of the rendering pipeline.
- Strong aesthetic eye and technical understanding of shading, texturing, lighting and look development.
- Highly detailed and organized in work practices
- Penchant for optimization and improvement
- Great team player in a highly fluid environment
Nice to Have:
- Experience with shader writing (Any shading language, though OSL preferred.)
- Scripting, and API knowledge
- Knowledge or experience with USD pipelines.
- Experience with Python, C, C++
- Experienced with UNIX/Linux
