Localization Manager
We are Fatshark
We are a critically acclaimed Swedish game development studio with about 150 experienced and skilled employees out of Stockholm. We are most well-known for developing the Warhammer: Vermintide franchise, but have also helped develop a number of AAA titles and will soon be launching the highly anticipated game Warhammer 40,000: Darktide.
We have grown quite a bit over the last few years but we still embrace the same values that we started with and still think of ourselves like one big family with fun at the center. We are known for our crazy internally designed socks, hackweeks, use Friday afternoons for studio-wide “social play” time and our CEO is not beneath fixing the coffee machine himself. It all adds up to an approachable, fun, passion-driven yet communal environment for us to work in.
The role
Fatshark is looking to hire an experienced Localization Manager to help streamline and improve our localization workflow. You will be working closely with the production team and organize and lead the localization pipeline for all of our games. Furthermore, you will collaborate with internal teams and outsourcing partners and drive the process to improve our tools. This is a great opportunity for someone who loves cross-team collaboration, solving problems and is eager to take localization at Fatshark to the next level!
What we offer
Here at Fatshark, we do what we love most: design high-profile games for PCs and consoles. We offer you:
- A playful, friendly and inclusive work place
- Hands-on production environment with an emphasis on cooperative/multiplayer games
- Opportunities for personal growth with varied projects, experienced co-workers and recurring hack weeks
- Developing games with our own engine - Stingray
- Regulated flex time and paid overtime
- Occupational pension
- Yearly health benefits (for gym membership & more)
- Health checkups once every 2nd year
- Yearly bonus program
- Office located in central Stockholm
What you'll do
- Manage the localization process from beginning to end, working closely with internal teams, external outsource partners and license owners, both for in-game and out of game content
- Coordinating and ensuring deliveries and integrating all localized assets properly in-game
- Review, prioritize, and track the resolution of bugs that affect localized product content quality and functionality
- Plan, set and adhere to budgets and schedules
- Own and manage vendor strategy, process improvements and tools improvements
- Taking on outsourcing responsibilities and all the related administrative and contractual tasks (signing service agreements, following up on invoices etc.)
- Set up and manage internal reviews, milestones and approvals in relation to localization
- Communicate dates, status updates and risks to production and other stakeholders
- Build, improve on and produce documentation for the processes used in the localization workflow
Required qualifications
- You have spent 3+ years working in a localization management or multi-lingual production capacity, in games or other entertainment business
- As a gamer, you know that subpar localization disrupts the player experience, whereas great localization brings clarity to gameplay and makes players feel that they are being given the right kind of attention
- You have extensive experience in working with complex processes to facilitate organisation and improve project structures
- You have meticulous attention to detail and don’t let anything slip through the cracks
- Excellent communication, program/account management skills (ability to partner, communicate, coordinate between multiple, cross-disciplinary teams) in English. Swedish is not a requirement
- You are flexible and adaptive, have a positive attitude and have the ability to collaborate, lead and inspir
Bonus qualifications
- Experience of working with licensed titles or high-profile IPs
- Previous experience working with localization tools
- Understanding of video games production and interest in technology and languages
- Knowledge in Warhammer lore
