Localisation Specialist - Japanese to German (12-Months FTC)

Position Summary:
The Localisation Specialist role requires a speaker at native level of German with proven ability to translate/proofread from Japanese everything necessary for the localisation of computer games, including in-game text, packaging and strategy guides, etc. The candidate must also be prepared to translate and proofread from English if required.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Translation and proofreading of a wide variety of computer games-related material, such as in-game text, templates, packaging, press releases, and all other marketing materials in the language of expertise
- Ensuring consistency regarding the use of terminology and style in the language of expertise
- Lead and support projects
- Support localisation specialists/editing team/coordinators as required
- Collaborate with other languages in order to keep high level of standards/quality across all languages
- Regular reporting of progress to in-house management
Knowledge & Skills & Experience:
- Preferably two years’ experience as professional translator (not necessarily as a computer game translator, but gaming experience is desirable)
- Experience with Word and Excel is required and ability to learn new programs is essential
- Knowledge of translation memory software, in particular MemoQ, is a plus
- Good written and oral communication skills in both Japanese and English
- Native level language skill in German
- Knowledge of local culture for language of expertise
- Great attention to details
- Flexibility and ability to work under pressure with unpredictable schedules and tight deadlines
- Good team-player
Education:
- Degree level education
- Japanese Proficiency Test Level 1 or equivalent experience
Work Conditions:
- Operate at a level to do what it takes to get the job done
- All selected applicants will need to take a 3 to 4-hour aptitude test to measure their skills as part of the interview process.
- Candidates will either need the right to work in the UK or dependent on the job role the company may be able to arrange a VISA.
