Litigation and Regulatory Counsel

This new position will provide a mix of litigation and regulatory compliance support for emerging, cutting-edge issues facing our industry and initiatives. Reporting to the Global Head of Litigation & Privacy, this attorney will manage litigation matters and work as part of the larger legal team impacting critical long-term legal strategy to protect and enable AppLovin’s growing business in the US and internationally.
Responsibilities
- Handle general litigation and pre-litigation matters in the US and internationally, including devising strategy, managing budgets, and working directly with outside counsel;
- Manage various aspects of dispute resolution including fact-finding and analysis; prepare and review letters, pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and settlement agreements; assist with preparation for mediations, arbitrations, etc.
- Manage all aspects of e-Discovery, including legal holds, document/data retention and collections; liaise with the business to obtain responsive information;
- Provide legal support for regulatory inquiries domestically and internationally;
- Provide legal support for internal investigations related to employment and compliance matters;
- Update and maintain the records retention policy and related schedule;
- Actively participate in discussions and technical meetings with the business regarding new initiatives;
- Conduct legal research as necessary for new issues, e.g. related to regulatory developments regarding privacy, advertising, and digital economies.
Qualifications
- At least 5 years of relevant experience working in a law firm and/or government agency and corporate law department with strong working knowledge of litigation (both federal and state, with defense experience) and experience identifying and effectively managing legal risk;
- Proven track record of handling litigation and regulatory matters for technology companies, preferably in the mobile apps and/or AdTech space, both domestically and internationally;
- Substantive experience with privacy litigation and regulatory investigations;
- Substantive experience with conducting internal investigations;
- Excellent judgment, particularly in determining the significance of legal matters and effectively measuring and minimizing risks;
- Practical, business-focused advice capabilities, including providing informed cost/benefit analysis when identifying risks;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with ability to synthesize complex legal issues to essential elements for clients throughout the organization with different goals and responsibilities;
- Strong interpersonal skills, including diplomacy and flexibility, and the ability to interface effectively with personnel at many different levels throughout the Company and in different geographic regions (varying time zones, English language skills, etc.);
- A growth mindset in approaching novel and complex legal issues;
- Experience with AdTech, mobile apps, and/or digital economies strongly preferred.
