Linux System Administrator - Storage Team

As a Linux system administrator, you’ll be joining the storage team responsible for Block, Object (cold) and Data protection services. This team provides high performance storage for thousands of virtual machines and cloud instances in a constantly growing environment. Your colleagues will be based in Shanghai, Singapore, Paris and Montreal enabling the team to provide 24/7 support and help at anytime.
Joining this team means you’ll maintain and improve various data storage and Data protection systems of Ubisoft, ensuring the health of the infrastructure and integrity/security of Ubisoft Data for game productions and more! You’ll also have to automate, automate and do more automation to facilitate and improve the environments and work of teams supporting our game productions.
As part of this role, your responsibilities are to:
- Provide technical leadership with a focus on CSI and removing repetitive tasks;
- Be a subject matter expert of Linux technologies, provide training to users of data storage and implement best practices to our Software Defined storage services;
- Upkeep/manage Ubisoft’s world class Block and Object storage Environments;
- Implement new Products and services and contribute to the success of Ubisoft and our games;
- Analyze and report system performance issues, to ensure maximal uptime of our games;
- Implement backup and data storage security policies and procedures;
- Install, maintain and upgrade Linux platforms and services;
- Provide input and contribute to deployment best practices (Participate in build tests);
- Assist in evaluating new requirements, technical design, architecture and standards.
Qualifications
Relevant experience
- 5+ years of experience as a Linux systems administrator in an organization with 500+ Linux servers, focused on automation
- Bachelor’s degree Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Mathematics or a related field.
Knowledge and skills
- Excellent knowledge of Linux (preferably CentOS);
- Excellent knowledge of CNCF storage Technologies such as (Ceph, Gluster, swift, OpenIO, Triron etc.);
- Knowledge of Ansible (or similar infrastructure automation tooling);
- Knowledge of Git version control;
- Knowledge of Data Protection best practices;
- Knowledge of the video game industry is a benefit;
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced changing environment -- multi-tasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner;
- Great soft skills to be a representative of the Ubisoft IT Hosting team;
- Have a continuous service improvement mindset.
