Lighting Artist (Unannounced project)

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Lighting Artist to join our passionate expanding game dev team. As a Lighting Artist, you will play a critical role in creating immersive and visually stunning game environments and helping to push the visual target for our high-end pc upcoming titles. You will collaborate closely with the Art Director and team to craft lighting solutions that enhance the mood, atmosphere, and storytelling within the game.

What will you do?

• Collaborate with the Art Director and level designers to understand the visual and emotional requirements of game environments. And implementation of color grading and post effects to reach the desired visuals.
• Create and implement dynamic and static lighting setups that enhance the game's atmosphere, storytelling, and gameplay.
• Understanding of lighting optimization to ensure target platform performance requirements are met while maintaining visual fidelity.
• Collaborate with other departments, including environment artists and character artists, to ensure cohesive and visually stunning scenes.
• Troubleshoot and problem-solve lighting-related issues, striving for realism and immersion within technical constraints.

What are we looking for?

• Strong portfolio showcasing lighting skills in the context of realistic AAA games.
• Proficiency in lighting tools and software commonly used in the game development industry.
• Deep understanding of lighting principles, including color theory, composition, and the impact of lighting on mood and storytelling.
• Familiarity with dynamic lighting systems, including real-time and baked lighting solutions.
• UpToDate on the latest technology from leading engines such as Unreal.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team, taking feedback and iteratively improving lighting setups.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot lighting issues efficiently.
• Knowledge of performance optimization techniques to balance visual quality with game performance.
• Experience with post-processing effects, color grading, and integration of lighting assets.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to convey lighting concepts and ideas effectively.
