Level Designer

Turtle Rock Studios is an award-winning independent game developer best known for its work on AAA franchises like Left 4 Dead, Evolve, and Counter-Strike. We are a diverse team of inspired content creators, artists and engineers who share a passion for making fun, innovative games that gamers love to play.

We are looking for a highly motivated Level Designer to join our team to work on our upcoming AAA title, Back 4 Blood! Do you love creating awesome level layouts and designing fun encounters? Do you enjoy watching people play through your levels and collaborating to make them even better? The job will require working closely with artists, engineers, and other designers to create awesome content.

Responsibilities:

• Work with the Lead Designer and design team to create compelling levels for the game
• Work with artists to ensure the art works within the design of the game
• Work with engineers to achieve performance targets and iterate on key features
• Help create level layouts that can be re-used and leveraged many times
• Champion level completion from concept to execution to ship
• Playtest with both the studio and the design team to review and develop missions

Requirements

• A strong portfolio that demonstrates experience creating level layouts and designing combat encounters
• Must be able to thrive in a highly collaborative, team-oriented environment.
• Demonstrated experience working with modern FPS engines (UE4, etc.)
• Passion for games

Bonus if you have:

• 3+ years of experience in game development with one or more shipped titles on multiple platforms
• Demonstrated experience working on cooperative FPSs
• Experience with AAA First Person action titles
• Familiarity with asset tracking and issue tracking tools such as Perforce, JIRA, and Confluence
