Level Designer

We are looking for a passionate and talented Level Designer to join our new Vancouver studio, helping us create complex and dynamic AAA-level VR games. The ideal candidate is passionate about the craft of level design and you have experience creating memorable spaces that support and improve the core mechanics and creative vision of the game. You have high standards in everything you do and are dedicated to crafting the best experience for the player possible. What You Will Be Doing:

• Design and build high-quality levels that support the game's vision and creative pillars;
• Maintain and balance the readability, difficulty, combat encounter balancing, and pacing of levels;
• Own and drive the development of levels from concept to final shipping state, including hands-on work using the modeling and visual scripting tools;
• Collaborate closely with Art, Narrative, VFX, and Sound departments to ensure the best quality of the levels;
• Collect and analyze playtest data and use it to validate the level design or improve the player experience;
• Develop and maintain documentation, standard methodologies, and design techniques;
• Continually raise the bar for our level gameplay.

What We Are Looking For:

• At least have 1 complete development cycle of experience on a major PC/Console/VR title in a level design role;
• Strong understanding of overall game design, storytelling, game mechanics, level flow, pacing, etc.;
• Experience with Unity Game Engine or similar tools, design production tools, and level editing pipelines;
• Excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail;
• Quick learner, hardworking, with a high level of motivation, result orientation, trustworthiness, and teamwork spirit;
• Demonstrate ability to work under pressure, and strive for excellence;
• Proactive and comfortable working with both local and remote team members;
• You frequently play video games and have a strong understanding of current gaming trends and popular game releases. It’s a big plus if you have your own VR headset and regularly play VR games.
