Experienced Level Designer - UK based Remote/Flexible

For 30 years we’ve been creating incredible video games at our multiple studios, but Rebellion is more than just games. We have our own film and mo-cap studio, we create board games, publish books, and through 2000AD, publish comics and graphic novels such as the amazing Judge Dredd.
We operate across multiple UK locations, with studios based in Oxford, Warwick, Liverpool and Wakefield. We are on the lookout for a Level Designer to join our passionate and growing design team developing a new exciting unannounced project!
The Rebellion Design team designs, creates and maintains the games from concept to release. They work closely with the other specialist teams to implement fun and immersive gameplay utilising the game mechanics.
As a Level Designer, you will create game levels and implement immersive gameplay in line with the creative vision of the project. You’ll understand the project brief & core mechanics and apply style guides and consistent gameplay languages across the game.
You’ll work with other designers and specialist teams to achieve a consistent flow throughout all levels built for the game.
This role would suit a level designer who has an understanding of the game development cycle and has experience in design over the full cycle of production from conception to finalisation
Responsibilities
- Create immersive gameplay scenarios that support and enhance the core mechanics and creative vision of the game
- Develop and iterate level designs through close collaboration with Artists, Narrative and other disciplines
- Collaborate with Game Designers to define and tweak game mechanics
- Understand the iterating brief over the lifetime of the project, and apply style guides and consistent gameplay languages across the game
- Integrate the content produced by other disciplines for your designs into the game engine (new gameplay elements, AI, sound, etc.)
- Conduct gameplay evaluations with the team providing feedback and suggestions to help fine tune and improve the game
- Manage the levels through the full cycle of production from conception to finalisation
- Maintain and balance the readability, difficulty and accessibility of the levels
- Implement and incorporate feedback from Producer and Leads into work
Requirements
- Professional experience as a Level Designer on at least one published pc/console game from concept to finish
- Knowledge of 3d software such as Blender, 3D Studio Max or Maya
- Knowledge of creating game design documents and prototype specifications
- Knowledge of the video game development process, including working in a timely / time-bound manner, and prototyping/iterating appropriately within that restriction
- Knowledge of production pipelines
- Able to apply an awareness of the audience of the game
