Striking Distance Studios continues to grow. We are looking for talented developers with experience working on large-scale, live service games to join us in our San Ramon studio.
What we need:
Striking Distance Studios is looking for a talented Senior Level Designer with proven experience creating fun, memorable, immersive, and engaging worlds.
Responsibilities:
- Block out and build 3D levels through various phases of development.
- Research and be intimately familiar with the game's subject matter, locations, and architecture.
- Collaborate with the Design team to support gameplay mechanics.
- Communicate progress with Production to ensure all deadlines are met.
- Drive development of levels from concept through block-out to final gameplay.
- Implement gameplay elements and level features working closely with the design team as well as other disciplines.
- Responsible for placement of items, weapons and other game objects.
- Use research and player feedback to guide gameplay balance and tuning in a live environment to ensure high levels of player engagement.
- Support the game’s vision and goals, and work with team leadership proactively to evangelize the game within the team.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in game development
- Unreal Engine experience
- Large-scale world-building experience
- Understanding of basic level design methodology and terminology
- Minimum 1 shipped title as a level designer (or higher) on an AAA level project
- Proficient in a Major 2D Imaging Package (Photoshop / Illustrator)
- Capable of producing 3D level blockouts in Maya or Unreal quickly for iteration
- Responsible for placement of architecture, props, and game objects
