Level Designer - VR

Forward Game Studios is expanding our development team to create cutting-edge video games for next gen consoles, PC, and VR headsets. Founded in 2016, you will be joining a veteran team of software engineers, designers, artists and other senior leadership with decades of experience who have shipped some of the bestselling titles in history including games in the DOOM, QUAKE, Wolfenstein, RAGE, Call of Duty, Counter-Strike and Left 4 Dead series.
COVID-19 Update: Forward Game Studios is based in Dallas, Texas, and we have transitioned to a mostly work-from-home model during this time. We are always eager to bring more people into the thriving Dallas game development scene, and Dallas is the preferred location for this position. We are open to considering fully remote applicants with exceptional experience. We offer relocation assistance and will work with you to explore a plan that fits your specific situation.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
In this role you'll turn game design into playable and engaging missions in a ground-breaking VR shooter game currently early in production. The ideal candidate is someone that fits our collaborative culture, enjoys solving problems, has an eye for level flow and loves virtual reality game development.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with the design team and environment artists to build out mission spaces
- Create fun gameplay spaces focused on core combat and rhythm mechanics
- Collaborate with all development disciplines to drive a mission through the iterative process
- Produce and maintain level design documentation, including mission intentions and high-level concepts
REQUIREMENTS
- 2+ years of game industry experience or equivalent education
- Creative with a great sense for level flow, combat spaces and creating a sense of discovery through level design
- Strong problem solving ability and technical know-how
- Ability to take a task and run with it, working with a cross-discipline team to execute on a vision
- Good time management skills and actively collaborative attitude
- Experience with a AAA game engine and its scripting system (UE4, CRYENGINE, idTech, etc.)
- Must submit work samples with online application

- Experience designing for cooperative gameplay
- Experience working with the Unreal Engine 4 editor
