Level Designer [FAR CRY Project]

The daily life of a Level Designer at Ubisoft Toronto
- Understand the part that your level plays in the overall game experience based on the creative vision;
- Be familiar with the script and, more specifically, with the episodes in your level so that the story remains coherent by working with the narrative team;
- Prototype the environment, establish the layouts, and suggest ways of using the interactive and non-interactive elements to create the desired emotions;
- Communicate the results of the prototype to the other crafts in order to validate the intentions and have the level design TD assess the technical feasibility and the quality of the maps;
- Work in collaboration with the Level Artists to ensure that the playability of the level and the graphic elements support each other;
- As the project progresses, integrate the elements produced in the map (new gameplay, AI, sound, etc.);
- Control the accessibility, understanding, and level of difficulty of the level;
- Correct the level design bugs entered into the database by testers;
- Document and present your work, including prototyping and playtest results, to various teams and directors.
What You'll Bring
- Minimum 5 years of experience in video game level design, production, or other relevant experience
- Experience using game editors (e.g. Unity or Unreal) and their related scripting tools
- Thorough grasp of the principles of good level design (pacing, risk and reward, difficulty, etc.)
- You have shipped at least one AAA game, and been involved in all phases of development
- Experience with coding, advanced scripting, and modeling is an asset
- You are adaptable and open to whatever realities playtests may uncover about your work
- You are creative and thirsty for innovation.
- Ability to organize and prioritize your own work.
- Coaching skills and presentation skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
