The Department of Arts at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute seeks a 3D artist to teach courses in 3D modeling, animation, and/or game art for the 2022-2023 Academic Year. This is a full-time, one year appointment, with a course load of three courses in Fall 2022 and three courses in Spring 2023. Possible courses may include 3D Digital Modeling; 3D Animation; Game Animation; 3D Technical Direction (character rigging); Lighting, Rendering, and Cinematography; or other topics in the candidate's area of expertise.

The Department is one of the first electronic arts departments in the country, offering a B.S. in Electronic Arts, a B.S. in Music, and the Ph.D. in Electronic Arts, with faculty and students working in animation, film, computer music, visual arts, community practice, bio-art, interactive art, and other forms of interdisciplinary art. The Animation curriculum also supports the Games and Simulation Arts and Sciences Program, a nationally-ranked program with faculty from Arts, Communication and Media, Computer Science, Cognitive Science, and Science & Technology Studies. Alumni have gone on to careers in animation, technical art, VFX, and game development at studios including Disney Animation, Dreamworks, Blizzard, Electronic Arts, thatgamecompany, Heart Machine, Riot Games, Bethesda, Epic Games, Meta, Microsoft Studios, Gallium Studios, Velan Studios, and many more.
