Lead VFX Artist (Action Shooter)

We are looking for a Lead VFX Artist to lead a team of artists on a ground-breaking next generation PvP shooter project with a Games as a Service focus. This is a AAA quality original IP at an exciting stage! The opportunity is to join at the earliest stages of a multi-year development and help shape an incredible new game experience.
The project is a huge multi-platform next generation action shooter experience with a heavy focus on Games as a Service, looking to bring unique mechanics and a riotous tone to blow the doors off and bring something new to the genre!
Key Responsibilities:
- Set visual benchmark for real-time visual FX for characters, environments and gameplay.
- Assisting the Art Director in establishing the visual style of the VFX.
- Ensuring great visual quality with maintaining optimal performance and technical quality.
- The ability to work from photo reference or concept art to deliver a fully game ready asset including texturing and shading in game engine.
- Holding catch-ups with the team, defining deliverables, provide any support that may be required day to day including wellbeing.
- Take part in milestone planning and reviews.
- Ability to work to deadlines and show excellent time management skills.
Requirements
- Experience working in a Senior/Lead VFX role on at least one published AAA title.
- A portfolio demonstrating a variety of game-ready visual effects and a strong understanding of the relevant technical requirements.
- Strong experience with Unreal Engine 4 and the Cascade / Niagara editors or equivalents.
- Expert knowledge of industry standard DCC software (ie Maya/Max etc).
- Experience with baked and real time destruction simulation.
- Strong core art skills, including understanding of composition, form, silhouette, colour and light theory.
- A keen eye for motion, compositing, and animation.
- Experience setting briefs and working with remote team members and partners.
- Outstanding communication skills both written and verbal, show a positive attitude, be a real team player, show initiative and be highly self-motivated.
- Keen interest in managing, mentoring and assisting in development of team members.
Advantageous:
- Visual scripting experience.
- Experience in Houdini FX.
- Experience with animation, modelling and texturing.
- Experience writing shaders in a shading language such as HLSL.
