Savage Game Studios was formed in 2020 by industry veterans from studios such as Rockstar, Insomniac, Supercell, Wargaming and Rovio. In 2022 we joined PlayStation, making Savage the founding studio of the PlayStation Studios Mobile Division.

The Role

We’re looking for someone who can whip up technical specs, and provide technical guidance, leadership and managerial support to our Unreal programming team.

You will interface with design and art to help build solid foundations for mobile action games. You’ll also have features/systems of your own and will contribute to the project directly. You will report to the Technical Director.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to choices of technology and the definition of game architecture
  • Lead a small group of programmers to realize those architectural choices
  • Assist with hiring of technical staff and technical planning
  • Interface with the QA team to prioritize bugs and ensure sufficient test coverage
  • Collaborate with other departments to understand their goals, suggest viable solutions and foster Unreal best practices
  • Build systems that scale across a wide range of mobile hardware, and validate runtime performance through analysis and optimization (both code and data)
  • Analyze and fix common problems in game engines such as load times, memory usage, and performance problems
  • Ensure pipelines are fit to purpose and are scalable through the game development process
  • Lead engineers, providing technical guidance, as well as mentoring members of the team

Required Skills

  • Experience as a lead on one shipped title
  • Experience in at least one game developed on Unreal Engine 4 or 5
  • Strong in C++
  • Strong understanding of best coding practices and algorithms
  • Aptitude for breaking down complex problems and high-level product requirements into technical design and tasks
  • Effective communicator, written and verbal
  • Demonstrated ability to manage production time and meet deadlines

Desirable Skills

  • Shipped a mobile game using Unreal Engine
  • A keen interest in keeping up to date with the latest Unreal has to offer
