LEAD UX DESIGNER
Our studio is looking for a Lead User Experience Designer to help us craft exceptional UX for our products. You’ll work with our UX Director to establish the UX production pipeline on a game team and lead the implementation of best UX practices on that team’s project.
Who You Are:
- You’ve contributed to the execution of UX design work on at least 2 game teams, as well as other digital products, at a senior level
- You’re able to communicate the user experience of a feature or product visually through UX deliverables such as wireframes, storyboards, flow diagrams, and prototypes
- You understand modern mobile UX design conventions and can clearly articulate the design rationale behind your work
- You’re familiar with the UX design needs of various gaming platforms (PC, console, mobile) and are able to design products and features with cross-platform accessibility in mind
- You enjoy the challenge of simplifying complex systems and interactions
- You love designing experiences that are learnable, efficient, memorable and satisfying to use
What a Typical Day Might Look Like:
- Maintaining the UX production pipeline on a game team
- Planning UX design priorities with game team leadership
- Supporting your game team with UX deliverables such as wireframes, storyboards, flows and usability prototypes while coordinating with/integrating the needs of the team’s producers, developers, project managers, artists and engineers
- Collaborating directly with a UI artist on your game’s style guide to ensure your UX deliverables are supported with beautiful, readable visuals
- Collaborating directly with client engineers to ensure the best possible execution of your designed experiences
- Conducting competitive analysis on various products in the gaming space and making design recommendations based on your analysis
- Working with our User Experience Director, sharing your UX deliverables and incorporating any feedback
- Helping to define best UX practices for the studio with the User Experience Director
Requirements:
- 6+ years of leading UX design initiatives and designing UX deliverables for digital products
- Experience designing features for various gaming platforms (PC, console, mobile)
- At least 1 shipped game on any platform
- Knowledge of how metagame systems can support a game’s core loop
- Understanding of broader UX trends in tech that are likely to impact games
- Proficiency with most standard design software (Adobe CS, Sketch and/or Figma)
- Proficiency with UX prototyping software (Invision, Flinto, and/or Axure)
- Familiarity with usability testing/workshops on digital products
Plusses:
- Have shipped additional apps and products in the digital space
- Have organized and conducted usability testing/workshops on digital products
- Familiarity with free-to-play game design methodologies
- Ability to illustrate; can create appealing and dynamic visual target mock-ups
- BA/BS in Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, Graphic Design, Psychology or related field
- Bilingual in Spanish, Portuguese or any other language
The base annual salary range for this position in the United States is $75,000 - $155,000. The base salary is just one part of the overall compensation package. This base pay range is for the United States only and does not apply to international locations. The range for each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by location and additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
