Lead UI Engineer (Apex Legends)

As a Lead UI Engineer, you will be the main driver of the architecture for the UI systems we build, striving to improve the quality, performance and usability of these systems as well as our processes and tools around them. You will collaborate with a wide range of disciplines on game features, and work closely with our UX Designers and Artists to help fully realize their visions.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with all disciplines to gather requirements, triage and prioritize requests for the UI Engineering team
- Design, architect and document technical designs for UI systems
- Mentor a team of UI Software Developers with a broad range of experience and seniority
- Contribute to the creation of a new, robust UI framework.
- Hands on development of UI tech and content shipping within a live game environment.
- Play an active role in project planning for your team, in collaboration with Production staff
- Spend approximately 50% of your time doing hands-on UI development/prototyping and code reviews
- Take on the personal responsibility and pride of the continued success of Apex Legends.
Requirements
- 5+ years experience of professional game development.
- Fluency in C/C++.
- Excellent math skills with an emphasis on 2D math.
- Experience with large code bases.
- Great UI/UX design sensibilities regarding intuitive and clear user flows.
Nice to Have
- CS degree or equivalent education.
- An interest in UI/UX accessibility.
- Shipped at least one AAA game.
- Experience working on a live service game.
- Experience with other UI systems: UMG, Unity UI, Flash, ImGui, WPF, Qt, etc.
