Key Responsibilities:

  • Find and implement solutions to complex technical problems.
  • Develop and test best practices to standardise work methods and then train the Level Design team up on them.
  • Act as a technical reference point for team members.
  • Serve as a bridge between the tech and design teams providing technical support and technical guidance.
  • Create concise specifications and documentation for new tools / features.
  • Ensure that colleagues comply with the technical standards and that the levels are to metrics specification and budget constraints.
  • Proactively identify and raise upcoming technical issues to the Level Design Lead.
  • Work with the engineering team to ensure that level design needs are being met while engineering boundaries are maintained.
  • Review the tools and pipelines and look for improvements in efficiency.
  • Optimization and debugging of the levels.
  • Prototype new features and mechanics.
  • Accurately plan work.

Requirements

  • Have experience in a Lead or Senior Technical Level Designer role with shipped projects in that role.
  • Have experience Mentoring Technical Level Designers.
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to own and deliver high-quality work, with minimal guidance from others.
  • Programming and scripting experience with knowledge of C++ and blueprints.
  • Knowledge of 3D modelling software.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both to Directors and to team members across all disciplines.
  • Energetic and positive attitude.
  • Pro-active communication.
  • Exceptional knowledge of Unreal 4/5.
  • Significant professional game development experience with an impressive portfolio.
