Lead Technical Artist (on-site/hybrid)

Abstraction is a Dutch game development studio known for technically challenging projects and for providing support for AAA publishers for the last 16 years. We have 90+ employees and plans to grow by another 30% this year. We are currently working on an unannounced game and have co-development partnerships with companies such as Bioware/EA, 343/Microsoft and more. We are privately owned, and the executive team has over 100 years of combined experience in the game industry.
What You Will Be Doing At Abstraction
· Work with the Art Director and Production to evangelize the artistic vision through tech.
· Proactively troubleshoot and problem-solve tech art-related issues.
· Oversee the development of art pipelines, ensure that the tech art teams production is streamlined.
· Oversee the creation and quality of all tech art assets.
· Collaborate with other departments (Design and Engineering) to ensure tech art assets support overall game design, technical requirements and vision.
· Mentor tech artists to deliver outstanding results and improve their skills, artistic ability, and technique.
· Lead a team of tech artists, reviewing both art work and aesthetic output.
· Plan, prioritize and set objectives for the tech art team
· Oversee performance management of the tech art team.
What You Will Bring Along
· 5-6 years of experience working with art production pipelines in game engines.
· Experience leading tech art production teams and managing schedules and resources.
· Expert knowledge in industry standard software package tools.
· Expert understanding in best practices to create tech art for games.
· Expert experience working with Game Engines.
· Excellent problem-solving skills.
· Excellent portfolio showcasing specialized game tech art related content.
· Excellent understanding of fundamentals and principles of art.
· Expert in researching current development practices for tech art in games.
· Expert communication and collaboration skills.
· Passion for video games and the game industry.
· Expert time management skills.
· Shipped at least 3 titles as a Senior tech Artist.
· Experience overseeing multiple disciplines of art in production.
· Expert in working with designers and engineers solving game design and technical limitations.
· Expert mentoring and coaching skills.
· Experience managing specialized craft skills of the tech art team.
· Experience handling communication with external partners and/or resources.
