WHAT WE DO
We are working on the next generation of content creation tools, that are developed with one mission: "To make life simpler for artists". This requires us to tackle some of the biggest open questions in CG and come up with revolutionary workflows.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
We are looking for an amazing Lead Surfacing Artist who is passionate about authoring awesome materials and helping develop the tools to create them. This role will be directly involved in the development of world-class PBR Texturing tools for artists.
In this role, you will
- Be the champion for Quixel Mixer and use it on a regular basis
- Test new features and evaluate from a user/artist perspective
- Provide feedback and report issues
- Provide input for feature discovery and prioritization
- Help the community with novel ways of solving their problems
- Create content required for Mixer releases and marketing (Sample Mixes, Scenes, splash screens, marketing material, etc)
- Lead the Smart Material production effort and ensure a high level in the quality of deliverables
- Bring creative ideas and solutions to optimize the level of visual and technical quality
- Lead and mentor a small team of artists
What we’re looking for
- Excellent knowledge of real-time rendering techniques (shaders, PBR, normal map, displacement, etc.)
- A portfolio that showcases a wide range of PBR materials and environments
- Keen eye for material definition and detailing
- Excellent understanding of Scan data and proceduralism
- Excellent knowledge of Maya/3ds Max, Houdini or an equivalent DCC
- Excellent knowledge of the technical constraints of game engines
- 5+ years of experience in a similar role
- You’re user-focused, passionate, scrappy, solutions-focused, and innovative. These traits equal success at Epic and influence everything we do.
