Lead Structural Simulation Engineer
Job Description
Magic Leap seeks a Lead Structural Simulation Engineer with a focus on structural mechanics to support applied research, product development, and manufacturing . Candidates should have a strong foundation in nonlinear mechanics, be proficient in working with large-scale assemblies, and demonstrate expertise in their knowledge of theoretical and applied finite elements. We are looking for candidates who are motivated, creative, and dedicated team players who excel in a fast-paced environment. Candidates must be highly innovative and enjoy working in a dynamic and multidisciplinary environment.
Responsibilities:
- Develop accurate and detail-appropriate structural simulations to provide impactful technical direction to product development teams
- Work closely with the engineering teams to define, communicate, and deliver product performance
- Contribute meaningful insight to multidisciplinary projects that include industrial design, electrical engineering, machine and computer vision, optical engineering, material development, and manufacturing
- Collaborate with materials and testing teams to develop simulation inputs (especially constitutive models) and validate simulation outputs
- Support technical aspects of projects as a hands-on contributor. Also guide and mentor team members using technical skills to ensure project requirements are met on schedule while meeting customer requirements
- Develop simulation technology to improve and expedite internal workflows
Qualifications:
- Proven expertise in solving large-scale problems utilizing commercially available finite element platform
- Ability to quickly adapt to new workflows and work in a self-directed manner across disciplines
- Practical approach to modeling and problem solving
- Strong ability to verify and validate simulation accuracy
- Ability to simultaneously contribute to multiple projects while maintaining deadlines and high quality of work
- Strong ability to analyze simulation results, distill findings into meaningful direction, and clearly communicate to stakeholders :
- Ability to streamline model development and post-processing via scripting
- Significant experience with ANSYS and LS-DYNA
- Experience developing and validating multiphysics simulations
- Experience with opto-mechanical systems
- Experience with consumer electronics
Education
- MS or higher in Mechanical, Structural, or Materials Engineering or equivalent work experience
