Lead Software Engineer, Server
Pull up a chair and join us! Blizzard Entertainment is seeking a talented and enthusiastic lead software engineer to join the Hearthstone team. This position’s primary responsibility will be to provide technical leadership for a team of engineers that supports and improves Hearthstone’s server.
You don’t need to play Hearthstone to apply for this role. Responsibilities
- Provide technical mentorship and guidance for a team of engineers.
- Review completed engineering tasks in collaboration with production staff and other leads.
- Work with the Technical Director to promote and apply the core values of the Hearthstone engineering team.
- Help make improvements to the team’s ability to develop and support the game.
- Drive long-term service stability and capability.
- Advocate Blizzard’s core values, especially “Gameplay First”.
Requirements
- Strong, proven C++ programming skills with strong data-structure, logic, and algorithm skills.
- Experience working in a client/server architecture with distributed back-end services with high concurrencies.
- Previous leadership experience.
- Ability to work in a collaborative environment.
- A significant experience in delivering production-level code in a professional environment.
- Familiarity with Hearthstone, at least at a casual player level.
Pluses
- Experience interacting with a relational Database (Oracle, MySQL, etc.)
- Strong Linux development experience (server applications, gdb debugging, etc.)
- Low level network knowledge and diagnosis including packet capture (tcpdump, wireshark), routing, firewalls, DHCP, DNS, NAT busting.
- Experience supporting a live service.
- Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related degree.
- Familiarity with other Blizzard Entertainment products.
