Job Description
The Visual Effects Artist implements, under supervision, video game special effects in accordance with a project’s artistic direction and production deadlines. He/she has strong artistic skills, and an understanding of the technical constraints on the target platforms.
What you will do
- Using a variety of particle systems, create all aspects of special effects artwork:
- Particle system templates and animation
- Particle textures
- Particle models (as necessary)
- Lighting
- Good knowledge of in-game special effects, including:
- Smoke
- Explosions
- Fire
- Weather
- Atmospherics
- Water
- Light/Energy
- Damage
- Full screen filters
- Post processing
- Coming with creative ideas and solutions to the assigned tasks and proactively communicate task status to your peers, customers, and Leads.
- Correct defects discovered by QC or your customers in a timely fashion.
- Work within the technical limitations of a variety of game engines.
- Collaborate with Graphics Technical Artist to ensure necessary technology/features are present in order to reach the visual benchmarks.
- Share artistic knowledge with Artists, support them when needed.

Qualifications
- Solid and proven experience in creating real-time special FX for video games.
- Experience with crafting consistently brilliant, eye-catching, real-time FX using Photoshop, Max, and in-game FX systems.
- Able to paint stylized FX textures from scratch, matching an established style.
- Proficient with 3D graphics, particle systems, physics, ribbons, etc.
- Working knowledge of rendering engines.
- Solid game design awareness and an exceptional game design-oriented collaborator.
- Self-driven, and an excellent communicator.
- Work with art lead artist and other leaders to support the game vision, provide/receive feedback, and improve by participating in regular team events such as reviews and scrums, with the goal of creating high-quality VFX.

- Good communication skills. English ability a plus.
- Scripting skills (Max Script, Python, HLSL) a plus.
