Overview
ZeniMax Online Studios is seeking a Lead Quest Designer to join our studio for the development of our next AAA game. This is a chance to join an experienced group of developers in pre-production for a new IP. This role will collaborate with the Lead Content Designer, Lead Narrative Designer, Design Leads, & Lead Environment Artists to drive quest content. A developer in this role serves as a key part of the content direction for a new IP and will help drive a holistic approach to quest development that includes gameplay moments, combat encounter design, and scripting.
The preferred location for this role is Hunt Valley, MD, Austin, TX, or Madison, WI. Will consider remote.
Responsibilities
- Drive quest content that integrates narrative, gameplay, and visuals to create compelling story experiences
- Manage a team of quest designers to make industry-leading AAA quest content
- Provide story feedback and ideas to support and enhance narrative in quests
- Collaborate with artists to build 3D gameplay spaces that provide a variety of player experiences
- Facilitate and advocate for tools creation for live service content
- Collaborate closely with other level leads to build a holistic approach to level development across the project
- Leverage and communicate best practices for content creation for a live service model
- Mentor more junior quest and level designers and serve as a bastion for the discipline within the company
- Support the leadership team in establishing and role modeling positive processes
- Define quality standards for the team through hands on execution and documentation
Qualifications
- 5+ years related experience
- Strong team leadership skills
- Deeply creative with broad gameplay design knowledge and expert quest design proficiency
- Ability to drive collaboration and consensus across multiple disciplines
- Strong organization, verbal, and written communication skills
- Experience with quest, quest design, narrative design, or content design
- Comfortable with a development schedule that is playtest-driven and focused on iteration and polish
- Strong methodology and problem-solving ability
- Previous work experience with 3D world and level building tools such as UE4, Unity, etc.
- Scripting experience, either in visual or other forms
Preferred Skills
· Experience developing Open World games
· Development experience on a multiplayer, online game
