Lead QA

As a Lead Quality Insurance at Smilegate Barcelona, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality of our AAA game. In this role, you will build and lead a team of quality assurance professionals and work closely with development, project management, and production teams to ensure compliance with quality standards and deliver a flawless experience to our players. You will be responsible for developing and implementing effective quality assurance strategies to continuously improve our processes and deliverables.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Management.

• Lead and supervise a team of testers in quality assurance.
• Ensure training, development, and ongoing evaluation of the team.
• Allocate tasks and ensure a balanced workload distribution.
• Mentoring, coaching, and developing your team to meet the requirements of the project delivery.
• Helping your team to collect feedback & identify improvement opportunities.

Planning and Strategy.

• Develop quality assurance plans for projects, including defining quality criteria, timelines, and required resources.
• Establish effective testing processes, quality standards, and metrics to assess performances.
• Bug management (prevention, detection, tracking)
• Exploring opportunities for test automation
• Drive for Always Playable on all platforms

Test Execution.

• Oversee and participate in the execution of functional, performance, security, and user interface tests.
• Identify and document defects, ensuring follow-up until resolution.

Continuous Improvement.

• Identify process improvement opportunities and quality standards enhancements.
• Collaborate with development teams to priorities and implement fixes and enhancements.

Communication.

• Regularly communicate with internal stakeholders to ensure transparency and understanding of quality-related issues.
• Prepare quality reports for management.
• Team player with a strong collaborative mindset

Requirements:

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or in a related field.
• 5+ years of progressive QA leadership experience and a minimum of 1 game shipped (consoles).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• In-depth knowledge of software development (JIRA, etc.) and methodologies (Agile, Scrum).
• Ability to work autonomously and make informed decisions.
• Quality assurance certification (e.g., ISTQB, Certified Software Tester, IGDA QA, etc) is a plus.
• Knowledge of UE5 would be considered an advantage.
