Lead QA Engineer

Expansive Worlds is a creative division of Avalanche Studios Group and a leading developer and publisher of outdoor games. Since 2009, Expansive Worlds has been devoted to delivering highly immersive outdoor gaming experiences for millions of players and best known for the long-standing and successful theHunter franchise.
We are now looking for a Lead QA Engineer to join us to work on an ambitious unannounced project in Liverpool.
The Position
We need a passionate and dynamic team member, whose attitude is backed up by their experience in QA helping to create great quality games, having worked as a QA Lead on at least one released project from the early phases through to completion.
You will be responsible for defining the QA processes and workflows, designing the projects’ test plans and working closely with developers of different disciplines to discuss and communicate plans clearly. Acting as a vocal advocate of QA you will be in charge of building a strong QA team, as well as working with external QA partners when additional resourcing or specialist testing is required.
The role will be a mix of hands-on, strategy and processes, with you planning, coordinating and executing the testing of the project. In addition you will manage the QA team, supporting, training and enabling them to do their best work.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of QA Lead/Management experience in the gaming industry.
- Able to define QA strategy, approach and execution on a large scale project.
- Work closely with QA Leads/Producers on team structure, headcount and hiring, along with developing the training processes for new and existing team members.
- Working closely with the production team to help prioritise risk management and testing across the product.
- Mentoring and coaching team members to ensure both individual and team growth.
- Collaborating and communicating with multiple leads and stakeholders about features, requirements and acceptance criteria.
- Implement key KPI indicators to measure team effectiveness to help drive process changes.
- Helping drive, contribute and implement a process for testing initiatives across the product.
Essential Skills
- Excellent communication skills – must possess excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Experience working with outsource partners, managing and maintaining quality and budgetary requirements.
- Able to build a detailed test plan that is flexible with ongoing changes in features and verifies builds for full production testing.
- Experience testing tools and live product(s) with a frequent release cycle.
- Solid technical or engineering background in software and games development.
- Passion for games, the industry and next-generation technology across multiple platforms.
