Our Studio
Ubisoft Toronto was founded in 2010 and has contributed to many award-winning Ubisoft brands, including Assassin's Creed®, Far Cry®, For Honor™ and Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell®. In 2018, the team at Ubisoft Toronto developed its first new IP, Starlink: Battle for Atlas, and a new technology that seamlessly blends physical and digital gameplay. In 2020, Ubisoft Toronto led the latest game development in the Watch Dogs franchise – Watch Dogs: Legion. Ubisoft Toronto received praise for the tech and design work, for creating the first game in which you can play as anyone in an open world, and for its rich and detailed rendition of a future London. Now, in 2021, Ubisoft Toronto is on the verge of shipping Far Cry 6, the most ambitious Far Cry game to date, featuring the talented Giancarlo Esposito. We're also kicking off new projects, and we can't wait to share more details once we're ready.
Are you looking to work with enthusiastic experts who are tackling industry-changing challenges in entertainment and beyond? At Ubisoft, we offer an open environment where teams embrace innovative ideas and share knowledge with a genuine collaborative spirit.
The role of a Lead Programmer (Core Tech) at Ubisoft Toronto:
As a Lead Programmer at Ubisoft Toronto, you lead the game's technological vision that brings to life the creative ambitions of the project. To achieve those ambitions, you build teams composed of talented and inspired programmers, overseen by just-as-passionate programming team leads, constantly in touch with them. You plan, identify issues and closely follow up on features in development for the game. Thanks to your leadership and your ability to make the best decisions when faced with challenges in production, your programming teams can achieve their ambitions.
Sometimes, you roll up your sleeves and go deeper into the technical details of a problem. You maintain your programming skills to the point where you understand the issues your team is dealing with and can critique and contribute to the solutions that are being proposed. Your global vision and your deep comprehension of what everyone does on your team allow you to harmonize and multiply the results of everyone's hard work. When quality systems are delivered and work together cohesively, you know you contribute to offering a rich experience to our players. And that's what truly motivates you.
Type of Position: Permanent, full-time.

- Work closely with game design and content creation to help them push to the limits of technology but not beyond;
- Lead the programming team to define what's possible. Look ahead at upcoming technology and plan for the future;
- Be ready to jump in at short notice to help understand and react coherently to any unforeseen issues;
- Oversee planning and staffing for your programming teams
- Train your programming leads to improve their management and strategic skills continuously;
- Act as a role model. You demonstrate care for people, express inclusive behaviours and foster a safe and respectful work environment;
- Be the safety net that allows your team to flourish;
- Build and leverage an inter-project network to facilitate collaboration across locations, departments, and disciplines.
What it takes to make it
- A minimum of 10 years experience in game programming;
- A minimum of 5 years experience managing a team of game programmers;
- Proficient in C++ and other programming languages commonly used in-game production;

- Impeccable strategic leadership and communication skills;
- Remain calm when facing challenging situations (you know that there is always a solution);
- A deep understanding of video game production with the flexibility to see the perspectives of other game production disciplines.
