Job Description:

A Lead Outsource Supervisor for Environments on the World of Warcraft team is responsible for leading a team of internal Outsource Supervisors and Artists, and external vendors. In this role, you would assist in bringing to life 3D environments in the game, including architecture, foliage, and prop assets. The position requires a strong sense of shape, design, and color theory along with a solid understanding of video game art production methods and experience with outsourcing pipelines. We want you to work closely with the Art Director, Art manager, production team and other art leads to help meet our goals and continue the core mission of the WoW Art team which is creating the highest quality handcrafted art in the industry. You will help us build a fun, engaging world for our players!

We are looking for a candidate who is highly skilled and experienced in crafting game environment art (both organic and structural) including modeling, UV mapping, texturing, and lighting. The right candidate would have strong experience working with outsourcing and understand real-time game development needs. Leadership duties

· Be the voice of the Environment, Dungeon, and Prop art teams (including player-facing promotional items) to external vendors, and represent the Environment Outsourcing team during discussions with internal leads and artists

· Reinforce existing partnerships with external vendors and help identify and build relationships with new partners for the future

· Where possible, ensure that vendors are trained on workflows and standard methodologies

· Ensure briefs and objectives are clear and consistent

· Partner with art management to ensure team is balanced and strong

· Identify, mentor, and grow talent

Day to day tasks

· Give notes and direction to external artists and internal art supervisors, this includes painting over screen captures, manipulating 3D models and painting textures

· Conduct reviews and send feedback on the art and technical quality of vendor submissions

· Partner with production to ensure schedules and plans meet business needs

· Coordinate with Art Leads to ensure consistency of quality and vision across outsourced content

· Collaborate with production, design, and other departments

· Provide technical direction to team members and partner with Tech Art and Engineering to maintain implementation standards and improve tools

· Experience building relationships with internal and external partners while successfully delivering content within budget and time constraints

· Takes initiative to identify and solve problems with excellent follow through

· Experience authoring asset briefs and reviewing submissions

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $97,200.00 - $179,900.00 Annual. This base pay range is for the U.S. and is not applicable to locations outside of the U.S. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed.
