Lead Optical Component Engineer

Job Description

Lead Component Engineer (Optical) position is responsible for overall supplier and component readiness for critical and challenging new optical parts. Backgrounds with mobile camera/optical components along with their sub-assemblies and knowledge of precision optical glass manufacturing and coatings is required. This energetic individual will need to align development, procurement, quality, and supplier readiness to enable the successful launch of new products to meet the organization’s goals of “on volume, on quality, on- time”.

Concentration of this role will focus on reduction/elimination of particle contamination within the supply chain. This role will also work directly on the establishment of processes and metrology to support class-100 clean room operations for critical components.

A background in optics/camera design for commercial electronic mobile products strongly preferred. The desired Individual would also have experience in working with suppliers and bringing technically challenging components into production. Approximately 20% of international travel is required.

Qualifications:

• 10 Years or more of applicable experience managing/designing optical components
• Fundamental knowledge or background of optical glass manufacturing and optical coatings.
• Experience working in the consumer electronics industry
• Ability to work with global suppliers
• Experience with Optical Metrology
• Experience with quality and FMEA for optical components
• Detail-oriented and collaborative
• Must be able to work with minimal supervision

Education:

• BS in Optical, Electrical or Mechanical or related field required.
• MS in Engineering preferred
