Lead Online Programmer

IO Interactive is building a strong and talented team of online programmers in Malmö and Barcelona. We’re cooking new features and concepts that will continue to engage with our players on a whole new level. For that, we need to consolidate our cloud infrastructure as well our engine’s online capabilities. You’ll be in for the long-haul. Sounds like fun? Oh, we know it will be. What you will do:

• Choose fitting cloud technologies for the online and data services
• Deploy, maintain and drive the design of our cloud infrastructure, which should be scalable and fitting to several games needs.
• Develop and maintain our online game technology and tools as well as game specific code, on server and on client side
• Champion online security practices
• You will get to extend the technology of our in-house Glacier engine with online capabilities. That means designing and implementing online game features that interact with the engine, that will be for any of our games.
• At the same time, as a lead, together with Directors, you will participate on the online game vision and break it into specific goals
• You, together with your team, will be responsible to create, run and monitor our game servers and back end infrastructure.
• In short, the team you will lead will be responsible for the development of an scalable and reliable cloud infrastructure to run online services that you and the team will co-create with the different game projects.
• Provide candid and compassionate feedback in bi-weekly 1:1s with every team member
• Coach and mentor people in the team and the company on regards to Online, Cloud, security and related best practices

Who you are:

• Experience as a DevOps Engineer in scalable production systems
• Proficient with at least one the major cloud vendors (GCP, AWS, Azure), it is plus if you have knowledge in more than one.
• Able to architect solutions that may live in several clouds
• Experience with containerization (docker, k8,…) and orchestration (puppet, ansible, saltstack…).
• We expect you to be experienced in navigating and integrating new technologies into large existing codebases.
• You have excellent written and verbal communications skills in English. We are a proudly and happily international studio.
• You have a Bachelor’s in Computer Science, a related education, or relevant experience for the job such as several years leading teams responsible for Online services / Cloud infrastructures for games.
• You are completely and irrevocably passionate about video games.
• Experience with creating custom tools with C#/.NET
